Hip-Hop for Peace
The Popular Participation Movement will present its 4th annual Hip-Hop for Peace on Diana Krall Plaza next to the Downtown Nanaimo Library on Commercial Street from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, March 22, 2009. It's six years this month since the United States and the UK began the war and occupation of Iraq, and this rally and free concert marks the International Day of Action Against War in Iraq. Just as people rallied and marched in countries all over the world before the war began, the call for peace and justice in Iraq continues. The Nanaimo event features live hip-hop performances by Kia Kadiri and others, break dancing, graffiti art demonstrations, peace poetry, and guest speakers.
