Cancel American Express Cards
Banks everywhere are stealthily making self-serving changes to their terms of service agreements and American Express is one of the latest to do so. Edward Hasbrouck's blog reports that effective April 2, 2009, American Express cardholders "will be deemed to have given your consent to receive calls including robocalls, and SMS text messages, from AmEx, in perpetuity, at any number you ever use to contact AmEx, including cell phones." If you use the phone of a friend, family member, business, or hotel, they'll be on AmEx's automated call list forever. According to the blog, you must take action in writing before April 2, 2009. Cancel your American Express card today. For more information, see Urgent warning to American Express cardholders.
