There's a new blues venue in south Nanaimo: The
Tenth Street Tavern (tel. 250-754-7900), 1 - 1273 South Island Highway at the corner of Tenth Street in the South Parkway Plaza behind the Mohawk Station. It's the former "Chase River Arms" now owned by Phil Forster who has great ideas for the place. For starters, Anita Bonkowski and
Gary Preston are often playing live blues there Sunday from 3 to 7 pm. There's a long wooden bar and the pool table in back is available after 3 pm daily at no additional cost. Tuesday is Seniors Day with specials from the kitchen. I wish The Tenth Street Tavern every success.
