Save Camp Moorecroft
This video explains the effort to save Moorecroft Camp in Nanoose. The property has been a youth camping retreat since 1934 and is used widely by members of the United Church and the wider community. The 34-hectare parcel has unique biological features including two tidal bays, cactus, coastal bluffs, forest, and wetlands. Sadly, Moorecroft is currently threatened by a proposal to subdivide and sell the land.
The Comox-Nanaimo Presbytery and the BC Conference of the United Church will make a decision on Moorecroft's future on October 17, 2008. If you are a member of the United Church in Comox-Nanaimo, you should discuss this matter with the Presbytery representatives at your church before the vote is held.
