Introduction to Watercolour Painting

Nanaimo Art GalleryThe Nanaimo Art Gallery is offering a series of fall/winter workshops, the first of which will be an Introduction to Watercolours for Seniors with artist Arless McNeill. This is a beginners course designed to teach you how to paint what you see. The emphasis will be on how to use paint and brush to create elements that can be used in landscape/wildlife paintings. The four-week workshop will be from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm on October 22, October 29, November 5, and November 12, 2008. The cost is $80 per person with paper supplied by the gallery. A list of required paints, brushes, and other supplies will be provided to participants in advance. To register, please call 250-740-6350.

The gallery’s downtown location, 150 Commercial Street, is currently presenting Planting Seeds of Hope, a show of quilting by The North Island Quilters for Community Awareness (NIQFCA). This show is intended to support the Merville Grand Mothers, who joined the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. Also on display downtown is Chantiers, a travelling exhibit featuring 10 works from acclaimed Canadian artists which is here as part of the Cultural Capitals festivities.
