Chantiers Exhibition at Art Gallery
The Nanaimo Art Gallery downtown at 150 Commercial Street is presently showing Chantiers, a traveling exhibit featuring 10 works from 10 acclaimed Canadian artists from 10 different provinces which is here as part of the Cultural Capitals festivities. This exhibit runs until October 3, 2008. In 2007 ten artists whose work has been noted nationally and internationally came to Charlevoix, Quebec as part of Baie-Saint-Paul's Cultural Capital of Canada fall event to create a work that was representative of his or her province. These pieces have been traveling the country, and Nanaimo being a Cultural Capital this year is its last stop. Artists featured are Darrell Bell, Saskatchewan; Clarence Bourgoin, New Brunswick; Robert Genn, British Columbia; Peter Gough, Nova Scotia; Les Graff, Alberta; Erin Jeffrey, Prince Edward Island; RFM McInnis, Manitoba; Barbara Pratt, Newfoundland; Charles Spratt, Ontario; Louis Tremblay, Quebec.
