Vancouver Island Exhibition Nanaimo

Vancouver Island ExhibitionNanaimo's annual agricultural fair, the Vancouver Island Exhibition, is coming to Beban Park, 2300 Bowen Road, this weekend, August 15, 16, and 17, 2008. The gates open at 9 am on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with an admission of $9 for adults, $6 for teens 13 to 18, $3 for kids 7 to 12, and free for youngsters under seven. Seniors over 64 pay $3 on Friday or $6 Saturday and Sunday. Parking is available for $2 at Beban Park, accessible from Labieux Road (between Bowen Road and the Island Highway), and if the lots fill up one could always park at Country Club Mall and walk 15 minutes back to the VIEX.

Top musical entertainment to please all tastes will be presented on the Woodgrove Centre Community Main Stage throughout the exhibition. Amusing sporting events will take place at various locations all day, some for kids, some for adults. And of course, the many exhibits in the fair buildings and the livestock displays in the barns and barnyards are a major attraction.

Among the events you won't want to miss are the pancake breakfast, horse and sheep shows, goat milking, tractors parade, threshing show, bike trials stunt show, mini horse shaving, the horse driving marathon, and chopping block. Musical acts include tributes to Johnny Cash, Shania Twain, Abba, and Fleetwood Mac, plus Michael the Magician. Come on out and support the VIEX while having a great day with the family.
