Cable Bay Public Hearing
A public hearing on the Cable Bay development in southeastern Nanaimo will be held in the Mount Benson Ballroom of the Port of Nanaimo Centre at 7 pm on Thursday, September 4, 2008. The public is invited to speak at the hearing, and supporters of the Calgary developers and those opposed to this environmenally-unfriendly project will be out in force. It should be a most informative evening. The hearing and subsequent vote by council will reveal exactly who is serious about tackling climate change and who favours development at any cost. Cable Bay is urban sprawl, and this development would cancel out virtually all of the energy-saving efforts of Nanaimo residents this decade.
