Sightseeing Ladysmith and Chemainus

LadysmithWe’ve just added a 79-kilometer Ladysmith Chemainus Driving Tour to It begins on the Ladysmith Maritime Society Docks and continues to nearby Transfer Beach. Time is spent admiring the historic buildings of 1st Avenue, Ladysmith, then there’s a hike on the Holland Creek Trail. From Ladysmith we drive along scenic Chemainus Road to Waterwheel Park, where the Chemainus Valley Museum, the Visitor Centre, and many of the famous murals are concentrated. We then walk down through Old Town to lovely Kinsmen Park and take the ferry to Thetis Island as walk-on passengers. After a few hours on Thetis, we return to Chemainus for a round of golf at the Cape Brenton Course, if time allows.

This is our sixth self-guided tour, after the two walking tours of downtown Nanaimo and the individual driving tours of North Nanaimo, Cedar, and Oceanside. As is the case with the other tours, a route map is provided to help you find your way and there’s a printable version you can carry along. Any one of these tours is all you need for a great day out.
