Gabriola Island Tour

Gabriola MuseumWe’ve just added a Gabriola Driving Bicyling Tour to The tour begins at the Descanso Bay Ferry Terminal and with stops at the Malaspina Galleries, Gabriola Sands Provincial Park, and the Orlebar Point Picnic Area on the north coast. Then there’s a visit to Gabriola Artworks in the Folklife Village Shopping Centre and the Gabriola Museum with its outdoor Petroglyph Park. We then follow South Road to False Narrows and Mudge Landing. Some authentic petroglyphs are seen behind Gabriola United Church, then we enjoy the fabulous scenery at Drumbeg Provincial Park. The nearby Silva Bay Resort and Marina is great for a late lunch on the terrace. Finally, we hike to a driftwood-littered beach in Sandwell Provincial Park.

As as the case with the other six self-guided tours on, photographs and a precise map are included. There’s a printable version you’re invited to take along with you as a guide. The entire tour is 49 kilometers by car or bicycle, and there’s also a suggested nine-kilometer route for those who chose to walk onto the ferry and see Gabriola on foot. Remember, you can wheel your bicycle onto the ferry for free and the island is perfect for cyclists. With summer upon us, Gabriola Island is the perfect day trip from Nanaimo.
