Cuba Ballet Dance Tour

Cuba Education Tours is offering a special tour for the 60th Anniversary of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba from October 28 to November 7, 2008. The 11-day tour coincides with the 21st Biennial Havana International Festival of Ballet, and the opening and closing ceremonies plus seven evenings of performances are included. Cuba's famous prima ballerina and founder of the National Ballet, Alicia Alonso, is on the festival organizing committee.

Tour members will visit three ballet schools, learn about Afrocuban culture and religion, get a backstage tour of the Ballet Nacional at the Gran Teatro, take both walking and coach tours Havana, enter a cigar factory, meet painter and ceramist José Fuster at his whimsical home studio, and peruse the special ballet display at the National Library and a ballet exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts. The included farewell dinner will be at La Guarida where the Cuban classic Strawberry and Chocolate was filmed.

The tour cost is $2,092 per person, payable in Canadian or U.S. dollars. The single supplement is only $296 extra. Accommodations are at the elegant Hotel Telegrafo in old Havana just a short walk from the historic Gran Teatro, home of Cuba's national ballet.
