Heroic Farley Mowat Seized

This morning our Coast Guard boarded and seized a Dutch protest vessel of the Gulf of St Lawrence well outside Canada's twelve mile territorial limit. The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society had sent the Farley Mowat into the area to document the slaying of 275,000 baby seals currently underway on the ice flows off Newfoundland. This seizure in international waters is intended to hide the truth about the “hunt” from the world.

On March 30, 2008, 60 kilometers north of Cape Breton, the Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker Des Groseilliers rammed the Farley Mowat twice. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) claimed the Farley Mowat rammed Des Groseilliers, but watch the film and decide for yourself who is telling the truth. This government-sponsored harp seal “hunt” is designed to win votes for the Conservative Party in Newfoundland. It's a sad day for Canada.
