Nanaimo Hip-Hop for Peace
Nanaimo's Popular Participation Movement, an activist group based out of Malaspina University-College, is hosting a Hip-Hop for Peace on Harbourfront Plaza in front of the downtown public library on Commercial St. on Sunday, March 16, 2008, from 1 pm to 5 pm. This free concert is part of a global day of action to mark the fifth anniversary of the American invasion of Iraq on March 19, 2003. Groups scheduled to appear include Conspirituality from Vancouver, Homage the Halfrican Cracker from Calgary, and Crypt from Vancouver Island. A breakdance competition, graffiti-art demonstration, peace poetry slam, and guest speakers are also on the program. It's your chance to have a fun-filled afternoon while protesting the dastardly deeds of the Washington warmongers.
