Nanaimo 7-10 Club Society
The Nanaimo 7-10 Club Society is holding its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 5:30 pm in the Maffeo Auditorium, Community Services Building, 285 Prideaux St, Nanaimo. Begun in 1985 as a "labour of love," the 7-10 Club is a community meal program that feeds the homeless, low income singles and families, students, and the under-employed and unemployed of Nanaimo. The club's official Vision is: "A community that embraces all of its population equally by working collectively to eliminate hunger and contribute to the alleviation of poverty." Their Mission is: "To feed the hungry with dignity and respect, and to increase access to food for those in need. We accomplish this by working in partnership with the community and providing public awareness of poverty though education and advocacy." Nanaimo residents are welcome to attend the meeting to hear about the challenges faced in 2007 and the exciting prospects ahead in 2008. Coffee, tea, and snacks will be available.
