Nanaimo Walking Tours

Nanaimo Walking ToursWe’ve just added a pair of Nanaimo walking tours to this website. The Waterfront Walking Tour and Downtown Walking Tour are designed so one flows into the other, leading you through the city in a figure 8.

We begin at the free parking lot next to Maffeo-Sutton Park and follow the Waterfront Promenade south along the harbour to Cameron Island, then back up Front Street to The Bastion. At this point, one can return to their car via Front Street. Otherwise, the downtown Nanaimo tour follows Church, Commercial, and Skinner streets to the Bastion Street Bridge, then up into the Old Town Quarter. The tour ends with a visit to Nob Hill Park and Firehall No. 2.

If you haven’t taken a walk around downtown Nanaimo recently, this is a good time to go. Allow a couple of hours for one tour or the better part of a day to do both. There are lots of wonderful little restaurants along the way where you can grab some lunch. Both walking tours come with printable versions which you are most welcome to print out for personal use. If you’re at all familiar with Nanaimo, the directions should be easy to follow, and a route map is included in the printout. Have fun.
