Festival of Banners Nanaimo

Festival of BannersFor the 21st consecutive year the Nanaimo Art Gallery is organizing the Festival of Banners. This year the theme will be BC 150 Years: Nanaimo's Past, Present and Future, honouring the 150th anniversary of British Columbia. Members of the public are invited to take part by proposing an original design to the Festival's selection committee. The idea is to commemorate local history, events, and places. . . . all things Nanaimo. Upon approval, the participants will paint their banners on a scheduled date. Then from May to October, the banners will brighten the main streets of Nanaimo's downtown area, the sea-wall promenade, Beban Park, and Departure Bay Beach, as well as the South End.

The entry forms contain all the necessary information. You can download a copy off the Nanaimo Art Gallery website or pick one up at either of the two Nanaimo Art Gallery locations: 900 Fifth Street or 150 Commercial Street. For more information, call (250) 740-6350.
