Maarten Perera at Gabriola Artworks

A solo show by noted Gabriola Island artist Maarten Perera will be at the Gabriola Artworks Gallery from July 26 to August 1, 2007. The theme is "La Luna: A Man and His Moon" and the artist himself will be on hand for the opening on Thursday, July 26, from 7 to 9 pm.

Perera’s colourful impressionist style is somewhat reminiscent of the work of the great Catalan artist Joan Miro, although his characters are thoroughly original and unique. Maarten Perera's work is a highlight of the Gabriola Studio and Gallery Tour held every year around Thanksgiving and is sought after internationally. If you’ll be visiting Gabriola Island this weekend, a stop at the Artworks Gallery should be on your agenda.
