Parksville Canada Day Fireworks
There won't be a Canada Day fireworks display in Nanaimo this year. Instead, Parksville is hosting a spectacular fireworks display in Parksville Community Park. It will be the culmination of a one of the biggest celebrations in the province, which kicks off with the Shriners Pancake Breakfast at 8 am. Then there's the annual Canada Day Parade along the Island Highway at 10 am, followed by a noon rendition of O'Canada and the cutting of Canada's 140th birthday cake in the park. Music, entertainment, and activities will continue until around 3 pm. The fireworks begin at dusk. This Sunday, July 1, 2007, break out your red and white gear and head up to Parksville for a day of fun. For more information, call Oceanside Tourism at tel. (250) 248-6300.
UPDATE: In 2008, the Parksville fireworks will begin around dusk on Tuesday, July 1, and the Community Park is a good place from which to observe them. If you'd like to make a day of it, check out our Oceanside Route Driving Tour. There won't be any Canada Day fireworks in Nanaimo.
