Longwood Brewpub Nanaimo Canada

Longwood Brewpub NanaimoThe Longwood Brewpub at Longwood Station in North Nanaimo is the city's only in-house brew pub. It's rather upscale with a laidback but luxurious restaurant upstairs and a buzzing bar below. If you come for the beer, you won't be disappointed as the selection is about the best in town. Beers like Dunkelweizenbrau, a dark wheat beer, and Russian Imperial Stout, a 7.5 percent alcohol brew, will awaken the taste buds of the most jaded connoisseur. Prices are reasonable. The Longwood Brewpub also caters to beer tasters with six-ounce glasses, allowing you to sample several items without getting totally smashed.

The brewpub's restaurant menu is not overpriced with salads, starters, burgers, sandwiches, and wraps, entrees, and pastas. The Thai curries come with coconut sauce on basmati rice. Greek salad with feta cheese and olives makes a nice lunch, and hungry beer drinkers can order nachos grande. Other interesting selections include wild salmon burgers, halibut and chips, quesadillas, and 10-ounce New York steak.

Aside from the designer beers brewed in the gleaming stainless steel and copper vats next to the entrance, the brewpub's wine menu is good. The Longwood Brewpub is just off the Island Highway North at 5775 Turner Road in Longwood Station, not far from a TD Canada Trust branch. The restaurant is open Monday to Saturday from 11 am to 11 pm, Sunday 10 am to 10 pm (the bar stays open until midnight daily).
