Living Forest Campground Nanaimo

Living Forest CampgroundOne of the nicest campgrounds around Nanaimo is Living Forest Oceanside Campground and RV Park just off Island Highway South in Chase River. If arriving from Victoria or the Duke Point Ferry, keep straight on the old highway into town and turn right at the first traffic lights. Living Forest is at the end of Maki Road on a bluff overlooking the Nanaimo River estuary.

There really is a forest here and almost all of the 300 campsites at Living Forest get ample shade. Trees separate the campsites from one another providing welcome privacy for the campers. The fully-serviced sites along Cedar Circle have lovely ocean views, while the unserviced sites on Arbutus Lane also have great views and are ideal for tenting. There's something here for everyone.

Living Forest Campground has the feel of a provincial park yet it's right on Nanaimo's doorstep. The South Parkway Plaza with a good selection of restaurants and stores is only a 10-minute walk away. That's a real advantage as you won't have to fire up the rig just to go out for dinner. There are lots of hiking trails and you can even rent a kayak.

I highly recommend Living Forest to visitors and Nanaimo residents alike. If you're looking for a weekend escape without having to burn a lot of fuel, seriously consider reserving a site here. Summer prices (May-September) for two people range from $26 for a forest tent site to $41 for the best oceanside sites with full hook-ups (plus $1 per child). What a great place to take the kids!
