Nanaimo Global Film Festival

On the weekend of February 16-18, 2007, the Nanaimo Global Film Festival comes to town again. British Columbia’s biggest social issues film festival opens in the Malaspina Theatre on Friday Febuary 16 at 7 p.m. with the 2006 student film award winner Measuring Equality and Jason Bourque’s Shadow Company. The directors will be in attendance. During the daytime sessions on Saturday and Sunday, 45 videos and films will be shown (the complete schedule with descriptions is on the Festival website). Saturday night, the feature double bill of Tocar y Luchar and Beyond the Call starts at 7 p.m.

It all takes place at Malaspina University College just off the Nanaimo Parkway. Admission is $30 for a complete three-day festival pass, $25 for Saturday and Sunday, or $20 for Saturday only. A community dinner of Mexican cuisine will be served before the Saturday evening screening at $13 per person. Malaspina parking is charged extra 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
