International Day of Action
The Canadian Peace Alliance is organizing an International Day of Action on Saturday, March 17, 2007, to mark the fourth anniversary of the American invasion of Iraq. The protests across Canada will call attention to the misuse of Canadian troops to secure a Trans-Afghan oil pipeline route from the Caspian Sea through southern Afghanistan and Pakistan to American markets. Hundreds of millions of our tax dollars are currently being squandered for the benefit of transnational oil corporations while finding for child care and other social programs is slashed. The Canadian Peace Alliance is calling on the government of Canada to immediately withdraw our troops from Afghanistan. The March 17 activity in Nanaimo will begin at 12:30 pm on Library Square downtown. For more information call Dyane at tel. (250) 753-3085 or Jean at tel. (250) 247-8368.
